Lovely Saturday

I love great Saturdays!  Today was a GREAT Saturday.  :)

My mom arrived Thursday night and I spent a little bit of time with her yesterday after work.  My nephew told her he wanted to do “Sneak Out Saturday” this morning so, we did.

Sneak Out Saturday is when we sneak out of the house really quick Saturday morning before getting dressed, brushing our teeth or anything.  (We’re allowed shoes.) We then go to the “Donut Factory” (that’s what he calls it) for a donut and hot cocoa.  Well, we decided to invite his cousins (my niece and nephew) to come with us.  So, this morning I got up and when to pick up the crew.  Only I cheated, I got dressed first this time.  So did my mom.  The kids were upset but got over it quickly when we piled into the car to go for donuts.  Yes, they were in their jammies.  We each got a donut and a coffee/hot cocoa.  If the kids are around I work a donut and coffee into my Saturday food plan because it’s a special treat that they get to do with me.  :)

I had to do a bit of work (nothing big, just some correspondence witih a couple new and potential new clients) then we went up north to the state park.  (We being me, my mom, my nephew, my brother, his wife, and their two kids.)  We took my mom to the navy brigg museum.  Then we drove around the park for a bit (for some reason my brother’s never been there).  We decided to hike down to the lake (not sure why we went that way instead of just driving to the park of the lake that was easier to get to but it was fun).  After that we drove through a small waterfront town for a bit, stopped for a coffee (can’t believe I had two today).  We drove past the “top secret” military base then by some new condos.

We decided to walk through the condos and I was shocked at the horrible craftmanship.  My sister-in-law said it wasn’t that bad but my brother found more things wrong with the place than I did.  I looked up what they’re selling for (or I guess I should say what they’re listed for) WAY too much.  It’s insane.  You could buy a lot and build a custom home for that price — a 3,000 square foot CUSTOM home. (My brother’s in construction — he confirmed.)  People are crazy.

Anyway we decided to go to dinner after our drive and my family decided to let me pick (very weird) so I picked the place that has the veggie fajitas that I’ve been craving for a week.  I decided to get them without the tortillas because I don’t really like to eat them with tortillas but if they’re there I’ll eat the tortillas. Of course my sister-in-law heard and about thought that was hysterical.  So, I had an overpriced grilled vegetable dinner that tasted so good I’ll buy it again.

Unfortunately, I think I ate a little too much of my delicious heavenly grilled vegetable goodness.  Not as in too many calories too much but as in too much food for my tummy too much.  But there was a very good (and VERY welcome) side effect to whatever I did today.  I won’t gross you out with the gory details but I do think I might sleep tonight and not be up all night in pain.  Which is very good because I’m tired from not sleeping well the last two nights because of the horrible stomach cramping and pain and tears from the complete discomfort.

Hope you all have a great rest of the holiday weekend — not sure what I’m doing tomorrow (other than bringing my own food for whatever the family decides to eat because I’m not consuming what they discussed eating today).
