I had a lazy weekend. I needed it. I’ve spent the last two days reading, catching up on some recorded TV and watching movies. Yesterday my sister came over and we had pizza then went out for ice cream afterwards. It was really nice. We haven’t spent as much time together as I’d like since she’s moved out.
Last night was nice. I wanted to watch a movie with her but there were two episodes of a show I record for her that she wanted to get caught up on so we did that instead. It was just nice having her here.
My cat, on the other hand, is about to be banished to the psych ward. He keeps biting me. I know he’s playing (I can see it in the way he does it if nothing else) but it’s annoying. Just when I’m about to lose it with him though, he gets sweet again. So, I’ll keep him around.
Tomorrow’s payday and I had some unexpected expenses this month so the fridge is getting bare. It actually worked out good because it’s forcing me to eat some of the stuff that’s in there that I’d pick over if I had other options. It just means a nasty market trip Tuesday (I have a meeting tomorrow or I’d go tomorrow). I hate the first of the month grocery trip. I do one large food shopping trip a month, it’s when I pick up the staples — bread, canned goods, frozen stuff etc. It’s the one that makes me mad when the read the total. But, the rest of the month it’s just picking up some fresh fruits and vegetables so it all washes out. I did pick up some stuff Thursday (dried beans, almond drink, cereal) so Tuesday might not be too bad.
Tonight I wanted a snack and had a ton of calories left over so I decided to make popcorn. I got rid of my microwave about six months ago and always forget to pick up kernals when I’m at the store so I haven’t had any GOOD popcorn in a while. (I had some microcrap at the office but nothing good
) Since I remembered to buy kernals on Friday I made some popcorn. It’s so yummy.
It’s been forever since I’ve made popcorn on the stove so I was a little nervous. Honestly, it turned out better than any microwave popcorn I make. LOL I also looked online for a recipe to spice it up a bit and added butter (unfortunately I added a little too much), taco seasoning and a little shredded sharp cheddar cheese. I wasn’t too sure when I was reading the recipe but it’s REALLY good! I little kick from the taco seasoning and a little zip from the cheese. Very yummy. Next time I’ll cut back on the butter a little bit but make it exactly the same.
Surprisingly, I’m actually looking forward to work tomorrow. I know, pick your jaw up off the ground. The past few weeks have been draining and I finally feel like I got the rest and relaxation I needed. Of course there’s a million things that keep trying to pop in my head that I “should have” done this weekend but I just push them out of the way and remind myself that sometimes I need to do NOTHING. I really feel so good after doing NOTHING the past two day.
