I wasn’t going to do the new Shrinking Jeans challenge.
But, every blog I’m reading is doing it so I’ve decided to do it. It’s not that I don’t NEED to do it. It’s not even that I don’t really want to do it. It’s that I don’t really want to do it. (I know that makes absolutely NO sense but whatever.)
So, I’m not going to over extend myself or set myself up for failure. I have one thing that I’ve been working on that I really want to stay accountable to. So, I’m going to focus on the one item.
So, my 21 Days challenge: Drink 64 ounces of water a day. So, it’s 1:30 and I’ve had about 8.
But, I’ll focus more today and make this more of a priority for myself.
Weigh-in – I was down to 214.6 Monday but am back up to 215.6. I just can’t seem to get past this one weight. I’ll fluctuate all week and go up to 216.6 then down to 214.6 then I end up at 215.6 each Wednesday.
The good (or frustrating) news is that last year when I did a half-assed attempt at doing something about my weight I was at 216.6. I went up the entire time I was working at it though so it was my lowest a year ago.
I know I need to get some exercise and it’s supposed to cool down this weekend so I’m going to (unless I have to make an emergency trip to Seattle for a family thing) get out and do something. Tonight I think I’m going out on the lake (but that means sitting on the boat as we fly across the lake to a restaurant) but we’ll see.
Oh — an an update on my dad’s father. He was able to have the surgery yesterday and came through great. So, so far so good.

I think the goal you set for the 21 day challenge is great. I’ve found that setting small but attainable goals is the best way to progress. I started off never drinking water and now months later I rarely want anything else – seriously, it gets easier! Good luck

I’m glad you decided to do it! Seriously! Get yourself a 32 ounce water bottle (or 2) and keep it close at hand all day. I find I do better with just chugging half the bottle all at once rather than sipping on it for hours on end.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Hi Lanel,
I’m glad you decided to join this challenge. Don’t worry about the scale not moving much lately. Around 6-7 years ago when I lost my major amt of weight, I had several periods where I hit a plateau. This is often a natural and necessary part of weight loss. Your body needs to get used to its new weight. Sometimes switching up your exercise routine or upping or lowering your calorie intake a bit can help you break through. Also, I had a WW leader tell me to try a different type of diet to break thru the plateau. I had been following their “flex” plan and she suggested I try “core” for a week. I did that and promptly lost 6 lbs, which I then proceeded to gain back the next week when I started eating carbs again (I could never go low carb permanently, I’d probably kill someone), so I’m not sure how effective that method was in the long run, but it did break the plateau.
ps-glad your dad’s dad is doing better

I’m also stuck. Let’s make some serious effort this coming week and see if we can’t get past this!
