I love Saturdays. I especially love Saturdays when I don’t have an alarm clock ringing in my ear and don’t have anywhere that I have to be. Today was one of those Saturdays.
I got a call last night inviting me to a BBQ at my sister-in-law’s parents. I was excited, but I have been extremely frustrated with myself after the last few BBQs that I’ve been to so I planned better today. I had my breakfast a little later than normal. Didn’t wait until I was starving, I just waited a little later than I usually eat. (I bought a new protein powder and it is GROSS.) I then ate my lunch a little later than usual which meant I wasn’t starving when I got to the BBQ. I also planned my breakfast and lunch to be a little on the lighter-side calorie wise because I knew I’d be eating higher calorie food for dinner.
Unfortunately, there was bread and jalapeno-artichoke dip for appetizers when I got there. Unfortunately, I like bread and jalapeno-artichoke dip a LOT. Unfortunately, I sat facing it. Unfortunately, I had a little more than I would have liked. But, it was still OK.
Dinner was Tri-Tip with Potato Salad, Strawberries, and Garlic-Cheese bread (and watermelon but I don’t like watermelon). Everything was delicious. I probably could have taken a smaller scoop of potato salad but I’m OK with how much I took. I wanted a second piece of garlic-cheese bread only because I like it, not because I was hungry or anything. But, I just took the one and was satisified. I could have eaten more meat and strawberries but I was full so I stopped. I also didn’t have any problem having water instead of the soda that was offered.
All-in-all I’m very happy with my success at this BBQ.
Saturday Calories: 1,659 (over by 157 but I’m OK with that — not happy but OK)

less than 200 calories over and you had a serious tempation? i’d say you did great!!
